The Cup Guide Coffee Count

We’re building a picture of independent coffee across South East England.

The Cup Guide Coffee Count is our ongoing research project, identifying and verifying independent coffee shops across the region. Starting in Hampshire and Berkshire, we aim to document the businesses, towns and people shaping our local coffee culture.

Our research will grow over time, with regional figures, discoveries and an annual snapshot of the independent coffee scene.

Our directory will grow gradually as we discover more independent businesses and regional coffee destinations.

Have a favourite independent coffee shop or roaster you’d like us to feature? We’d love to hear about it.

Hampshire – Where Our Count Begins

Hampshire is where The Cup Guide begins its journey to document the independent coffee scene across the South East.

From Andover and Winchester to Southampton, Portsmouth and the New Forest, we’re identifying independent coffee shops, discovering local businesses and building a verified picture of the county’s coffee culture.

Our first Hampshire count is currently in development. Verified figures will be published as our research progresses.

Berkshire – Expanding Our Research

Our research will also extend into Berkshire, exploring the independent coffee businesses that bring character to its towns and communities.

From Reading and Newbury to smaller towns and villages, we’ll identify and verify independent coffee shops and build a clearer picture of the county’s coffee scene.

Berkshire will become part of our growing South East Independent Coffee Shop Count as our research develops.

How we count

Our figures will be based on businesses identified and verified by The Cup Guide. Counts will be dated and accompanied by an explanation of our research method. They should not be interpreted as a complete census unless explicitly stated.
